URGENT: Help Wanted to Construct the Grotto to the Blessed Virgin

The parish is planning to construct a Grotto in honor of the Blessed Virgin. The Grotto will be built on the side of the church near the current structure that houses several icons and the goal is to have it completed before the St Anne's 60th Anniversary celebration that will take place on Sunday, 22nd September.

While the construction of the Grotto is important, so is ensuring that there are sufficient plants, flowers, and greenery to make the Grotto aesthetically pleasing and a desirable place for prayer. Therefore, we are making an urgent appeal to any parishioner who has a green thumb, is interested in gardening or simply wants to get involved in designing and coordinating the planting and vegetation.  If we want the Grotto to look presentable at the 60th Anniversary celebration, then planning and ordering plants and other greenery should happen now.  Please consider volunteering and contributing to the beauty of St Anne's.

Christian Meditation

Nearly everyone agrees that meditation is beneficial. Meditation helps us focus and cultivates inner calm. It is just a matter of making time and having the discipline to do it. It is easier to do it with others than by yourself. The St Anne's Meditation Group meets every Tuesday at 7pm (come at least 15 minutes earlier to settle down) in the sanctuary to practice stillness and silence. We finish before 7:45 and you will feel more rested than when you came. Come and find out.

For more information, please contact Vivian Lee at 6100 0880.

Lectors Schedule for January, 2019

Dear Lectors,

Please find enclosed the first schedule of the New Year. The lector assignments for the Mass on January 1st, Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, have been included in the December schedule.

It's been a while since we had lector training. To keep the reading at St Anne's at a high standard, Maria Lee and I are planning a session in January, and another session in February. We plan to invite some people who read well to demonstrate and you will hear feedback on your reading. We hope you can come to one that suits your schedule. It will most likely be on a Sunday afternoon as that is the day off for our Filipina sisters. Details to follow!

It has been encouraging to see reliable young people participate in this ministry. We have Leah Gillette, Aidan Jackson, Jamie McGraw, Hannah Tan - reliably preparing and reading for the people of St Anne's. Bravo!

In closing, I thank you one and all for your service throughout 2018. May you enjoy the peace and joy of Christmas united with your family and spending time with friends.

With gratitude,Vivian
