Dear Lectors,
Grateful for letting me know your availability. July is understandably a challenging month for scheduling due to travels and holidays, and we just made it to fill up all the time slots. Special thanks in advance to Marc Harvey who has been scheduled to read twice in this month :)
Please find attached the July schedule. If you have any last minute change of plan, please notify in good time and seek replacement.
Our Parish will celebrate St. Anne's Feast Day on 23 July at 11:15am Mass. Maria Gonzaga and Oliver Wong have been assigned to be the readers, and kindly refer to the attached Feast Day Liturgy booklet to prepare the special bible passages for that Mass.
Thank you to all.
Happy holiday and God bless,
Maria Lee

Dear Lectors,
I attach the Lector Schedule for June - three beautiful feast days! - in which I have accommodated all absences communicated to me.
Wishing you all a good summer.

Perhaps the most critical ministry in which the Church engages is passing the faith on to those we most treasure, our children. Teaching the faith was the role first given to the Apostles after Jesus' resurrection, and it remains the primary ministry of Bishops today. Teaching our own children in structured ways such as CCD is a concrete and vital actualization of that sacred ministry.
We are making a special appeal for women and men, both mature and in their teen years, to step forward before the Summer break to commit to leading a class in our CCD program starting in September. In the nine months between mid September to the 3rd week of May, there are approximately 25 scheduled class sessions and almost 10 weeks of recesses during school holidays. Please be generous to God's mission among us for our children through this vital ministry.
We are looking for teachers, administration staff, and a possible new leader of the program for the next generation of CCD.You can contact me, Paul Munder, Sandra Gallaudet, or Amy Turner in the next 3 weeks to convey your willingness.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration. Fr. John
Every year before Summer, we encourage all parishioners to review their Wills and update them if necessary during the Summer months. A well written and current Will is a loving gift to those who are suffering the great loss of one who is so close and intimate to them. Especially important is reviewing the asset list upon which the Will is drawn.
The Catholic Women's League of Hong Kong have been invited by St. Anne's this weekend to assist them in their annual charity fundraising campaign.
Throughout the year they provide assistance to students, the elderly and the needy in our host city.
Please support them in their efforts with either a freewill offering after masses throughout the weekend, or by purchasing their raffle tickets.
During Lent, the Parish of St. Anne's collected an amount of Hong Kong $169,550 for the direct benefit of Middle East Christians!
That amount is more than mere assistance; it's a life-changer for a good number of persons we may never meet in this world. May their lives contribute to the peace and wellbeing of ours.
Heartfelt gratitude to all who have sacrificially responded to this Lenten appeal on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.
Sincerely, Fr. John.
This week, Passion Week, the Stations of the Cross will be held ONLY ONCE, on the morning of Good Friday, the 14th, at 10 AM, followed by an opportunity for confessions.
Please note that there will be no Stations of the Cross on Wednesday evening this week.
Consider joining us on Good Friday morning as we walk the Way of the Cross with Jesus on the day that Catholics around the world commemorate and celebrate His crucifixion.
Are you interested in a deeper study and understanding of the Scriptures? Would you like to experience the life-changing gifts of the Word of God?
The St. Anne's Men's Bible Study Group has been meeting since 2009 and we always welcome newcomers.
We now meet in Central/Admiralty on Monday lunchtimes at 12:45pm and will be studying St John's Gospel.
Please join us for fellowship and study! Please call or email Markus Shaw for more details: 9700 6122, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Registration for the 2017-2018 Religious Education Classes will open in late July, early August.
Please refer to this section and the parish bulletin as we get closer to that time of the year.
If you are new to Hong Kong or to St. Anne's, please be sure to register as a parishioner in the church office.
The students of the First Holy Communion class sponsored the March 12 Mass and participated in their Rite of Enrollment.
They will be welcomed to the Lord's table on May 20th, 2017.
If you are thinking of making sacrificial almsgiving a part of your Lenten practices this year, St. Anne's will again be collecting for direct assistance to Middle-Eastern Christians as almost all of them struggle to remain in the Middle-East; many of them waiting in refugee camps for repatriation back to their home countries, while a smaller number build new lives as immigrants.
There will be a special box for alms for this purpose at the back of the church after each of the weekend masses throughout Lent.
Confessions will be heard throughout Lent on Saturday afternoons at 5pm.
Appointments can be made for other times until Wednesday of Holy Week.
Stations of the Cross will be prayed in English on Wednesday evenings during Lent at 8:00 pm.
The Stations will be followed by a communion service, and opportunities for confessions.
Why you might consider The Anawim Way to deepen your prayer life this Lent:
1. "What was that all about?" If you've ever asked yourself this question by the end of the Gospel reading at Mass (or wondered if there was even a link between the readings), The Anawim Way can lead you to a clearer, more personal understanding of the daily Mass readings.
2. In the reflections both simple and powerful, hear God's message FOR YOU each day. (Happy warning: It can get quite personal!)
3. For the price of a cup of coffee that may tide you over for 4 hours, the Anawim Way will keep you nourished for 40 days!
Limited copies are now available at the church office. For further information, please contact Gigi Tse at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.(9318-8212).
Dear Lectors,
Thanks to all who had informed your availability in April, this has been very helpful for us to put together a heavy schedule for, admittedly, a very busy holy month :).
Please find attached our April 2017 schedule.
Blessings to all,
Maria
